Tapanti National Park is a natural reserve that is located in the La Amistad Conservation Area – Pacific. It is located about 15 km southeast of the town of Orosi and was created in 1982. In it you can see different types of forest from montane to pre-montane rainforest. There is a great variety of trees: fig trees, oaks, male nance, and oak among others. About the fauna, there are 45 species of mammals, 300 species of birds, 32 species of amphibians. You will see birds as yigüirros, orioles, guans, quetzals, and hawks can be seen. Among the mammals we can see bats, raccoons, monkeys, squirrels, and several species of felines.

The Irazú Volcano was declared a National Park in 1970 and has an area of 2,309 hectares. With very special characteristics, it is an active volcano with an extensive history of eruptions and cycles of activity. It is an area of great hydrological importance, many rivers originate here that feed the Chirripó, Reventazón, Sarapiqui and Grande de Tárcoles rivers. This volcano is made of volcanic material in layers 3,432 m high, with an irregular sub-cone shape, with violent eruptions and 5 different craters. The most important is the Main Crater, almost circular, with inclined walls, 1,050 meters in diameter and 300 meters deep. The origin of the name is given thanks to an indigenous village that lives near the volcano, called Iztarú, meaning the mountain of thunder and tremor, but over the years, as a result of verbal communication, it was changed by razú. Other craters such as the Diego de la Hoya crater are 600 meters in diameter and 100 meters deep. Playa Hermosa, La Laguna and Piroclastico are the other existing craters. This beautiful colossus is located just 1 hour and 15 minutes from our hotel.

The Lankaster Gardens are one of the most recognized botanical gardens in the world, this natural paradise gives you the opportunity to enter and discover the world of orchids and bromeliads as well as countless other plants. With 27 acres of internal and external gardens, you will have the opportunity to see more than 1000 species of orchids, not all of them bloom at the same time but you will always find species in the flowering stage. Located near the town of Paraíso and administered by the University of Costa Rica. Here you can find a wide variety of plants, its greatest attraction being the collection of orchids. The duration from our hotel is only half an hour. You need comfortable clothing, as well as tennis or walking shoes and sunscreen. The gardens are open from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The Ruins of Ujarrás National Monument is located 10 minutes away and houses the vestiges of a colonial church in Costa Rica. This brick and mortar church was short, and its roof was made of clay tiles. The Ruins of Ujarrás are the only thing that remains of the first church built in Costa Rica during the 17th century, and are appreciated as a reliquary from the colonial era. A place of utmost importance since it was a settlement of the Huétares indigenous people, it was abandoned in 1833. The indigenous population of Ujarrás became extinct at the beginning of the 18th century, so it became a mestizos town. Florencio del Castillo, who was President of the Cortes of Cádiz, was born there. Due to several fever epidemics, the town of Ujarrás was abandoned between 1832 and 1833, and its neighbors moved to the territory known as Llanos de Santa Lucía, today Paraíso, whose height above sea level controlled the mosquito vectors of fevers. In April of each year, a pilgrimage and a festival are still celebrated in honor of the venerated image of Ujarrás.
